May 1, 2021 - Our Last Post

After three years, we have decided to conclude our RV voyage. Selling the bus was a difficult decision, but seems it's time. We have had good times and many challenges. We will be getting a stick and brick place to live and hopefully spending some time on the high seas and different countries. Our travels will continue, but in a different form. Thank you all for following us and being a part of our adventures. God bless and keep you all safe.

Mar 28, 2021 - Costco. Bike Fun & Bloodmobile

Trying to keep busy. Winds were pretty bad, but they have calmed and we are seeing Temps in the 80s. Borrowed a nice motorbike from a friend and went on a fun overnight camping trip in the middle of the desert with some buddies. We did our civic duty and gave blood at the mobile blood unit. And, renewed our Costco membership, where we picked up some supplies and got an eye exam. We are so happy to be able to get some exercise. The gym at the resort lets us have an hour a day private workout time. So, we've been going in alone to lift...

Mar 14, 2021 - Desert Hot Springs, CA

March 1 we finally arrived in Desert Hot Springs, CA back at Catalina Spa and RV Resort. A very lovely park with delightful hot spring pools which we are enjoying most evenings. We are taking it easy as I am still recovering from hip surgery so we are not doing too much. A little hiking in the area which is desert and occasionally we come across a palm oasis. Since sitting around a lot I am back to making beaded earrings and bracelets, however, who knows when I will ever be wearing them as since we've been on the road jewelry and makeup...

Mar 8, 2021 - In The Desert

Warmer here than most of the country (70s and 80s). Been a little windy, but can't complain. Mary was able to get her COVID vaccines, but I have to wait for another tier to open. Drove out to the Salton Sea to look at Salvation Mountain. Created in the middle of nowhere by a guy over many years. Been hitting the mineral pool in the evenings. Nice warm water and very relaxing. And, just gave the tax guy all our records, so we will be ahead of schedule with the IRS.

Feb 10, 2021 - Desert Hot Springs

Four days on the road and finally made it to Catalina Spa Rv Resort in Desert Hot Springs, CA. Only two weeks late. There is still snow on the mountains and its in the 70s in the valley. We have both been ill. Nothing major. Just cough and general yuck. Did get a Covid test just to be save, and we are good. Mary had her first Covid Shot. Its nice to be home. We feel comfortable here, with the surroundings and friends.

Jan 30, 2021 - Extreme Bocce Ball

A fun game. Normally, Bocce Ball is played in a finely mowed flat court. We called this Extreme Bocce Ball because we played out in the desert across the street from Sam's Family Resort. The small target ball we called "The Pea" is tossed randomly anywhere in the desert. Could be a foot away or as far as the thrower was able to launch it. It landed on sand, near rocks, in gullies, in sand mounds or in a desert plant. The players would then throw their large colored ball in an attempt to land nearest to or touching the "pea". The closest...

Dec 25, 2020 - Our Christmas Decor

Sue baked some Kolaches for Christmas. She decorated the inside of the RV with a small Christmas tree, some battery operated candles and lots of garland. Outside we hung a string of Christmas lights on the front of the RV, Surrounding the rig on the ground, we normally have red, white and blue rope lights. We added a luminaria (lunch bags filled partially with sand, and a votive candle). We experimented with the location of the luminarias front and back but left the in front for Christmas Eve. We added a Santa hat to our welcome bear and...

Dec 20, 2020 - Xscapers Charity Event

When Xscapers gather at rendezvous, rallies, and in this case, a "Winter Home Base", they like to contribute to the host community in some way. This time it was decided to collect money from the club RVers in attendance and buy toys, games, and bicycles to donate them to Father's Heart Ranch. Father's Heart Ranch is a group home for abused & neglected boys providing a safe and stable home environment so the boys can heal. These boys have been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services and placed in this home. There were 24 RV...

Dec 7, 2020 - Views from and in Sam's Family Spa

This entry is a series of photos that we took within Sam's Family Spa & Hot Water Resort showing mostly the RV area where our group was located. We were spaced nicely apart from each other in our group of Xscapers, but had non-group RVers intermingled with us. Nice Also we are showing views of the surrounding mountains as seen from within the park. There are some photos of the mobile home section within the park and a few miscellaneous shots taken during our stay here.

Dec 6, 2020 - Sam's Family Spa & Hot Water Resort

This entry shows photos taken of the front office area of the rv resort we stayed in for three months (Dec 2020, Jan 2021, Feb 2021). In addition, behind the office is a combined picnic area, 4 hot spring pools, main swimming pool, wading pool, and wildlife pond with a water fountain spray that also is surrounded by some cages for pea fowl, chickens and roosters and some doves. We believe the doves were here because they were injured in the past and could not be released back into the wild. Covid restrictions were in place limiting use of...

Dec 5, 2020 - We've arrived at Sam's Family Spa & Hot Water Resort.

25 RV rigs from the RV Club "Xscapees are camped here at Sam's. The resort has a separate area away from other RVs for the exclusive use by RV Clubs. This is nice so we can gather for socially distant group activities without non-members in the same area. We are lucky to be able to spend 3 months of the winter (December, January, & February) here in such a beautiful park, with beautiful weather and with folks that we can co-mingle with in a safe way. There will be other entries of some of the activities that we were able to accomplish...

Dec 22, 2019 - Desert Hot Springs CA

A long drive today, lots of wind, and many hills meant another hour or more driving. We were waiting for a call back from from a Resort here but it never came. Plan 2 came into action...go to one of the previous resorts we had been to.That didn't work out because "the managers don't work weekends".So after driving away somewhat disgruntled we drove over to the KOA down the road. They were quite happy to take our money, the money the others lost out on. Weather was pretty windy from the start and that 18C temp that we left in Bakersfield did...
