Jan 2, 2019 - El Capitan State Beach
Dec. 26, 2018 – Jan. 1, 2019 Over twenty years ago we started camping with “the family” the week after Christmas. That tradition has continued since we moved into the Pacific Northwest— when we’re in Southern California for Christmas! So, on the 26th we drove 116 miles from Jim & Jennifer’s place to El Capitan SB, near Santa Barbara. Chuck and Kitty got there before we arrived. Soon Julie and Michael arrived with James and Christina. A few hours later, Jim & Jennifer drove in with their Bounder. And the camping began!Jump to full entry

Apr 14, 2012 - Ocean Mesa Day Two
Very happy to be camping where we have WiFi access. Awoke to thunder and lightening that plagued most of the state during the night. With the rain I worked most of the day while Bob read a book and Pepper slept. At noon we walked to a little market and deli “on campus” for lunch. Was good to get out. Late in the afternoon there was some sunshine! It actually looked as if it were clearing. Walked to El Capitan Beach with Pepper where it was very rocky and windy. However, the curve of the coast view was beautiful with the wind churned waves....Jump to full entry
Apr 13, 2012 - Oceana Mesa in El Capitan (near Goleta)
This was the big day where we had quarters ready for hot showers! I was up at 5:30 and the first in a large, clean room. 4 quarters allowed you 10 minutes of hot water so I got everything laid out to maximize my time. My toiletry kit has most anything you could want for any situation EXCEPT shampoo. Shower gel could be a lot worse! Geese must be attracted to Pepper. Once again I am making breakfast with Bob off showering (a la last year in Lassen) when a big white goose comes to the rig all “honked” off with Pepper being in her space. Such...Jump to full entry
Apr 30, 2010 - From Travel Mode to Family Fun!
After a month of peace and solitude boondocking in the Anza Borrego Desert, the hustle and bustle of traffic along I-10 and the sensory overload when we stopped for an overnighter at the Morongo Casino was further enhanced by a visit to the nearby mega Outlets Mall, just west of Palm Springs!! The casino parking, though a bit noisy with interstate traffic, is free and offered a great view of the snow-capped mountains of Big Bear. An evening in the casino provided fun and reasonable entertainment with a great buffet dinner. The designer...Jump to full entry

We will be here for about 10 days to get some much needed rest and get caught up on a variety of things.Jump to full entry
Mar 9, 2009 - El Capitan - Santa Barbara
We have a number of appointments in the Santa Barbara area. This is a growing area for Keys. The area we are staying at is next to El Capitan State Beach. We will get some snaps when we have some time.
March 10, Beautiful sunrise after a windy night. Outside temp is 45 and the morning walk was cold. Off to SB for meetings today. Camp Canine :)
March 15, Ocean Mesa is clearly becoming our central California base camp. We had a lot of meetings this week and it was nice to come back to crisp cool clean air, a red hot internet and great...
