May 12, 2014 - We ran amuck in Winnemucca
As we were departing a large parking lot this morning, a utility pole jumped out and scratched the side of our beautiful motorhome. There was no warning that the pole might be prone to attack. It had stood silently alone as we were parked there and we even walked around it. So once it became time to depart, I made a hard left turn and that's how it happened. I still don't know what caused that solitary pole to bolt and jump up at us like that. I have heard stories from others who have had this phenomenon happen, but quite frankly I never...Jump to full entry
Apr 27, 2013 - Getting ready to roll...
We are wrapping up our time at our house in Graeagle. The spring here is absolutely gorgeous, but the work is wearing us down and we're anxious to get back in the motorhome, our real home and the lifestyle of the nomadic characters we have become. I was having some issues with our electrical hookup between the motorhome and CRV, so I returned to John the master of all things automotive electric. He had things back to normal and ready to roll in short order. If you are ever in Quincy, CA and need this type of service, John's the one you want...Jump to full entry
Apr 3, 2013 - Visiting our property in Graeagle
Even though we are heading to our "old" house today in Graeagle, home to us will still be in the motorhome on the road. So therefore the distinction in today's title. This morning before leaving Reno, Winco and Costco were priorities for groceries as we plan to be in remote Graeagle for the next several weeks taking care of house issues and maintenance that needs attention. After those errands were satisfied, Bev treated me to a special birthday lunch at Dickey's BBQ. Even though this is a chain restaurant across the country, it is still a...Jump to full entry
Oct 8, 2011 - A visit to our Graeagle house
Friday we moved our rolling home to our old sticks & brick home in Graeagle, California. With the beautiful fall weather back on track, the house looked good and with a lousy real estate market, we'll hang on to the house for at least another year, maybe more. The market has really dropped and there are homes like ours that have sold for less than what we paid for ours 10 years ago. Fortunately we don't have a mortgage and we can try to ride this market out for a bit. We unloaded some items that we haven't used during our first year on the...Jump to full entry
Dec 17, 2010 - Snowbound!?!?
Last night Rick & Paula took us to dinner at Sweet Lorraine's. We enjoyed the conversation and their continued friendship very much. They are considering other RV options and we enjoyed teasing them about finding us out on our journey somewhere. I'm sure we will, just not so sure when. This morning we left Camp Osocheap in a beginning snowstorm and we should have just stayed right there. As you can see from the photo above, we are snowbound in Graeagle at the fire station. All the RV parks are closed and so we opted to park here until the...Jump to full entry
