We left about 8:20 and stopped for gas at Pilot (2.55 before the 5 cents we get off each gallon), and stopped for bread and bananas. Then we headed to the Harry and David Tour in Medford. We were bussed from the Country Village store to the factory. It was a nice tour. We watched how they make the caramel popcorn for the moose munch, peppermint bark, and chocolate peanut butter truffles. We also saw them making sticky buns and packing items. They gave us a little gift box with 2 galette cookies and a candy in them. We went to the Harry and...Jump to full entry
Apr 17, 2016 - Back to La Grande!
We left Sutherlin, OR on Monday and headed to another one of our favorite parks, Silver Spur RV Park in Silverton, Oregon. Again another lovely drive but no pictures! If you are ever in Oregon be sure and take the state highway #38 from Reedsport to Interstate 5. It follows the Umpqua River and goes through an amazing elk preserve. I had read that mornings and eveningsare the best times to see elk because that is when they are eating but we went through there around lunch time, ours and theirs! We probably saw a couple dozen of the...Jump to full entry
Apr 8, 2016 - Klamath River and Timber Valley SKP Park
What a great few days we had at Chinook RV Park on the Klamath River. It was so relaxing, just watching that river ebb and flow with the tides. The only thing we did the whole time was go into Crescent City to get some groceries. Exciting right? Well actually it was because we saw our first elk of the trip. Such magnificent creatures. The park isn’t very busy at this time of the year. It is always full during the salmon season. People love to go fishing from this spot. The park crew was busy getting the docks ready to go back into the water...Jump to full entry
Sep 22, 2015 - Klamath CA – Golden Bear RV Resort
Finally left Oregon and crossed into California. Our goal here is to see the giant Redwoods in this part of California. We were right close to the joint Redwood National and State Parks. Coast redwoods, which grow in this area of California, are the tallest trees in the world. We took a drive along the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, which passes through the heart of the old growth Redwoods in the state park. Stopped at the “Big Tree” wayside to see the “Big Tree”. It was HUGE! After our drive through the park, we headed up to a point...Jump to full entry

This turned out to be a nothing day. We did go for a little ride up to the lookout but it was very foggy when we got there. We came back to the RV park and all decided that were taking a big chance on buying the salmon from the Indians, so decided to not take advantage of it. Terry and Tony went for a hike along the coast and the rest of us just hung around and visited. Cathy prepared her green chili for dinner and it was enjoyed by all.Jump to full entry

Today was kinda a different day. We were doubtful about getting any salmon. The guys took a drive down to an area that someone told them they might find some salmon but they had no luck. They then decided to take a drive into Cresent City and purchase some tuna. Jim, Bob and Lon each got about a 20 pounder. They had them filet and brought them home for us gals to put into freezer bags after they cut them into proper pieces. About three in the afternoon a guy showed up with 2 large salmon and a small one. Bob and Jim purchased them, filet...Jump to full entry

We started our day by going to the Mystery Tree visitors center. We then went to the drive through tree and after some good driving on Jim's part and directions from Terry we got the truck through the tree, not made for big trucks. Terry then drove Janette and Lon's car through, no problem. We then took off down the coast to see more of the redwoods. We took a 9 mile drive on a very dusty rock road to Fern Canyon. It was worth the drive because of the ferns and there was a very large elk near the path we were taking. When were all hungry by...Jump to full entry
Sep 2, 2014 - Gold Beach, Oregon to Klamath, CA
We left Gold beach mid morning to move into California. We are in Klamath, CA and looking forward to seeing the giant redwoods. The drive down was beautiful and I have added a few more pictures of the coast. We are at the same RV park that we stayed in 3 years ago. It has changed owners and they are not as friendly a the previous owner. The weather has been very nice, just a little cool early in the morning. We are right on the Klamath River and can watch the harbor seals feeding everyday. We took a drive into the redwood park today but my...Jump to full entry

Today we visited the 'Trees of Mystery'. Paul Bunyon and Babe greet you as you enter the park. The park contains towering redwoods and a number of unique tree formations. You walk the trail through the trees starting up hill and then back down to catch the gondola to take you back up the mountain over the redwoods. The hike was fairly easy and had lots of stops to see the trees so you didn't realize how far it was. Besides the unique trees there are 50 chain-saw sculptures and imaginative stores about Paul Bunyon and Babe. The sculptures...Jump to full entry
May 18, 2014 - Yippee! On The Road Again.
I now know how a teenager feels when you take their phone away from them! We have been without cell phone and Wi-Fi connections for the past 5 days and I thought that I was going to go bonkers! It was very eye opening to see how dependent I have come to be on our smart phone and internet connections! But I guess I should start from the beginning. We left Mesa, Arizona on April 28 and drove about 160 miles north to Prescott Valley. We stayed there for 2 nights. We thought that since we had been sitting in the same space (and Jerry, the cat,...Jump to full entry

11/10 We get up at about 0700 at Chinook Bend RV park in Lincoln City OR. Before we leave I want to do a quick wash job on the RV and van. If we go where I expect to go tonight they do not allow you to wash your RV there, some places don't. Both the RV and van are a mess, but they look a lot better after a quick wash. We pull out at about 1000 and continue down US 101 The Pacific Coast Highway. The Oregon coast is amazing and like so many things on a trip like this niether words nor pictures can do it justice. In Southern Oregon we pass...Jump to full entry
Jul 6, 2013 - Klamath, CA - Klamath's Camper Corral River Beach Resort
The trip from Trinidad to Klamath, CA was a short, easy 37 miles though it took a little over an hour due to a fifteen minute wait for construction on the Klamath River Bridge just a mile from the campground. The views on the trip were much of the same but we have included a few pictures anyway. We are staying at Klamath's Camper Corral River Beach Resort. I don't know about the resort part but it is a nice campground with a lot of amenities for those that have children: a pool; lots of outside games such as horseshoes, tether bsll, etc.;...Jump to full entry
