Aug 2, 2013 - Lakeport, CA

Drove to Crescent City, CA on Wed. Parked at a campground that was affected by a tsunami from Alaska in 2011, right next to a commercial fishing and public port that was greatly affected. We walked to the commercial fishing boat area and watched them load food for their trip onto the boat. Don't know how long they were going to be at sea, but they were going to eat well. The area is rebuilding the docks. Thur. we drove to Scotia, CA just north of where the "Avenue of the Giants" begins. We drove Through Redwoods NP. Those things are really...

Sep 25, 2012 - Time with Josh's family

We are enjoying our relaxing time with Josh's family. We spent the first 5 days with Josh's sister in Grover Beach, California. While we were there we went fishing off the pier, ate amazing ethnic food, and did some shopping. Since we will be missing Halloween this year, Josh's sister went all out with Halloween decorations. We carved pumpkins and watched cheesy Halloween movies. Yesterday, we made the 7 hour drive up the state to Josh's mom's place. On our way up, we stopped at Garlic World in Gilroy, California (the Garlic Capitol of the...

Apr 10, 2011 - LakePort, Ca

We traveled from Oroville to the Clear Lake, Ca. area and are set up for a couple days at a little 'rustic' campground called 'Pine Acre's Resort'. It is just a little way from Lakeport and the big lake (Clear Lake).. I used to travel to Clear Lake with a Navy buddy that I went to ET school with @ Treasure Is Naval Station (in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. This really is a nice little campground, the sites are level (not paved) and the view of Blue Lake is pretty Kool. Gus seems interested in the many ducks that are around, but...

Sep 10, 2010 - Lakeport, California

Woke up this morning to fog horns and fog. It was cool and damp. We left 48 F in Crescent City but we were headed to 31 F (-1 C)further down the coast at Arcata. That’s okay, we’ve been in worse. Got on the road and started back down the coastal hwy 101, taking us through the Redwood National Forest. Another spectacular site! The redwood trees were humongous, to say the least. Turkey and I looked like tiny ants next to them. Honey, I shrunk the kids!! Lol So we spent the better part of our morning riding and walking amongst these amazing...

Apr 28, 2010 - Boring, Boring, Boring

Not only boring, but not even any boring pictures! We spent the last few days at Kenocti Casino RV Park in Lakeport, Ca which is on the upper end of Clear Lake - the largest natural lake in California. It is a beautiful lake in a beautiful setting which we had visited once before with Bret & his family (My fondest memory of that trip was that Zane was in the process of being potty trained, and our rooms were on the 2nd floor of the motel. He was in our room playing and the door was open. He went outside so I ran after him just in time to...

Oct 8, 2007 - Gold Beach to Clear Lake, CA

Today we drove to Konocti Vista RV Park and Casino near Lakeport, CA. The RV park isn't much more than a parking lot but it was a nice stop on the way down to Fresno. Came down Highway 101 then turned onto Hwy 20 over to Clear Lake. We had a dinner in the restaurant and Joyce made her regular donation to the Indian's. BTW, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.
