Got up early on the 12th & hit the road. We're were heading for the Elks Lodge for a weeks stay in Lancaster. Our week there was extremely busy, wedding shopping with our Son Richard, his Fiance' (Jennifer) & our 3 grandkids (Richard, Jeweliana & Dustin). Also we took all 5 grand-kids to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, it was a hot day, but a fun one. Everyone had a good time. Also we attended a wedding in Camarillo, the bride (Kristen) & her Mother (Cindy) both worked at Barone's Pizza Restaurant in Lancaster....one of our favorite places to...

Jul 8, 2014 - Lancaster Bound !

We decided when we left Redding that we would take a couple of days to get down to Lancaster. The trip was 525 + miles, but we just wanted to make the trip as relaxing as possible. We stopped & spent a night in Santa Nella Village (at Santa Nella RV Park). On day two, we drove the remaining miles. We are staying at the Elks Lodge here (as always). We are here to visit with our kids & grandkids. There will be sleep overs with the grandkids & we'll be taking in Six Flags Magic Mountain with all 5 of them (along with Rob, Jodi & big Rich)....

2012 road trip

May 29, 2012 - Lancaster, California

We left Las Vegas this morning for our trip across more desert to Lancaster, Ca. The Lance factory is here and we have a tour tomorrow. On the way, we ran across an old mining ghost town where we stopped for lunch and a couple of cold drinks. As you will see from the pics, some of the remaining miners don't look to good and Penny tried to get into the saloon and ended up in jail. I told her the sign said no loose women, but she insisted on going in. Also grabbed a quick bath while there too after doing some calf roping. Hope everyone is...

May 1, 2012 - Edwards AFB, Lancaster, CA

We are traveling to Edwards AFB in AM where Gene was stationed in 1969/70. 01May12 - We have arrived, 3:30 PM and are parked in FAM Camp spot #20. Andy the park host was very helpful, friendly and informative. We plan to be here for a week. The trip from Kingman was good, windy but otherwise fine. KC has become a good traveler finally, once again slept most of the way in his bed. The only casualty was the umbilical cord on the "toad" when we made a sharp turn it apparently pulled loose from the plug... guess it will need rewired before we...

Apr 22, 2012 - Back in Lancaster, Ca. & a Trip to the L.A.Zoo

We arrived in Lancaster, Ca. on the 16th & as usual we're staying at the Lancaster Elks Lodge. We've been pretty busy running around, getting in visit time with the Grand-kids here in town & visiting with friends. Last week we were able to take Rich, Jeweliana & Dustin out for a little shopping & dinner at Texas Cattle Company (one of their favorite places to eat). We made plans to take them to the L.A. Zoo this last Saturday, but Jeweliana & Dustin came down sick, so we still went but with just Richard in tow. The L.A Zoo was not that...

Apr 22, 2012 - Poppy Festival

This morning Pete & I took in the 21st annual Poppy Festival, when we lived here we went practically every year. There are the usual craft & food booths, this year they included a car show (which was cool). In the past there was always lots of poppy themed items, but I really didn't see much of that this year. There were rides for the kids, face painting, dance troops & all the activities you normally find at this type of an event. After leaving the festival we headed over to the Olive Garden for a late lunch early dinner. We were joined by...

Apr 18, 2012 - Lancaster

Indio, California to Lancaster, California (148 miles) In the 9 months we have been on the road we were surprised that the worst weather (mailny rain) we have encountered so far was on our arrival here in Lancaster. Hard rains, high winds, and temperatures in the low to mid 40's. We have a view of mountains on all four sides of us here at the RV Park, and all of them are capped with a good amount of snow from this recent storm. On the upside, it is fresh and beautiful and the rain has stopped, and the temperatures are expected to climb to...
