The trip from Nevada to California was really nice. We went through Donner Pass and the snow was really high. It was cleared off the road way, but piled up to about 20 feet on the side of the road (John asked if I wanted to stop for lunch at Donner Pass, but I passed on it). The Napa Valley was also beautiful and it was good not to see snow anymore. When we arrived in Laytonville, CA to visit with our friends, they wanted us to use the RV hookups at their house, so we decided to take a dry run without the motor home to check out the road,...Jump to full entry

That's it for 2008's travels - From Dracula chasing in Romania to the temples of Abu Simbel to diving off the Strait of Hormuz to Gamla Stan to the reefs of Saba to the beaches of Barbuda. The places were great but the people were even better! Thanks to everyone who hosted me. Greetings to all the wonderful people I met. Best regards to those of you who follow the Geezer's travels. Oct 13, 2008 - A Deeper Dive in the Caribbean
Hello again - Aside from a few pleasant weeks visiting hospitals in Sweden back in the summer (Don't ask! Long story), I've been a real stay-at-home. Life at the cabin in Mendocino suits me just fine - reading, playing the piano, cooking, playing cards, a bit of exercise. I descend from the hill to attend the odd Blues Festival, visit Miss Margaret at her new digs in Davis, CA, and do a bit of actual work (consulting for Genentech). So much for that.
