We went not expecting much and we stayed until closing their show :) We danced and danced and danced and danced and did I mention....we DANCED to every song!! May 25, 2010 - Snowboarding Mammoth

Busy Day Today... We went snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain. Lots of photos attached. Mammoth still has tons of snow as you can see and the conditions were awesome. Cold enough to keep the snow good and sunny so we were nice and cozy warm. There was zero lines at the lifts. We stayed at Stump Alley and also did the backside of the Face (old chair #3) above McCoy Station (Mid-Chalet). Had a blast!!! We also went on a date to the movies in the evening. The local theater has a customer appreciation night on Tuesdays where admission is $6 and...

We were off sight seeing today. Drove all the way up to Bridgeport to see what was up Hwy 395. Took the June Loop and we stopped off to see June Lake where Tony has his Condo at Gull Lake. Check out the kool Condo. The huge Trophy House next to Tony's condos was built by the 99 cents store founder. WOW !!! Coming back from Bridgeport we got some good Vista photos of Mono Lake in the distance. Having too much fun in this new life. See the smiles ?? :)

May 29, 2009 - Wow factor

Woke to a cold morning again. Mountain tops are all snow covered and the views are spectacular. Drove around the lakes of this region. You can rent cabins or camp on the edge of the lakes. It must be packed at the height of summer. One keen fisherman we know had itchy fingers wanting to throw in a line and catch the trout swimming in the crystal clear waters of Twin Lake. The weather is glorious as we head west into Yosemite National Park. Very lucky the Tioga Pass is open which means we can drive across the middle of Yosemite. Spectacular...

Apr 17, 2009 - This Week Was Fun!!!

As usually happens for the first couple of months after ski season, we make no plans except maybe dentist appointments or dinners with friends. This week was no exception. It is amazing how a couple of phone calls can change all that. Monday, Jodi called from work and had me talk to Mr. Connelly who is in charge of the Pt. Mugu Air Field. He invited Mike & I to the air field to watch on location filming of the TV show, NCIS which stars Mark Harmon. Long before he became a movie/TV star, Mark Harmon was the starting quarterback for UCLA...

Apr 6, 2009 - SKI CAMP IS OVER

Mike & I have decided to call our yearly 2 month sojourn of skiing in Mammoth, SKI CAMP. With that title it actually sounds like we are learning something and working hard at it while enjoying every minute away from home. This year Mike had 41 days on the slopes, while I only got 38 days. We think the reason we were in better shape this year was because of the month we spent in Big Bear. While in Big Bear, we shoveled more than 4 feet of snow and being at 6500 ft for 30 days helped us to acclimate for Mammoth. The elevation of the RV park...

Jan 17, 2009 - HAPPY 2009!!

Hello Everyone! Am writing to bring you up to date with our adventures. Also to wish you a Happy 2009! December was a busy month for us. We shoveled more snow in Big Bear than we ever had. We have also learned a lot about snow-throwers and intend to gift ourselves with one before the beginning of next winter! Over 4 feet of snow fell and we shoveled every single snow flake! I know our friends in the East are laughing hysterically at that remark; as they already know the hell of having to shovel day after day. Mike completed the attic...

Oct 7, 2008 - Mammoth Lakes

Our initial thoughts were to head north from Yosemite, via Sacramento, to Lake Tahoe but a trip over the dramatic Tioga Pass to Mammoth Lakes was emerging as an enticing option. This new plan appeared scuppered when we discovered that the bus service over the pass had finished for the season at the end of September. Undeterred we decided to chance our luck and hitch a ride. Two lifts later (one with two German surgeons and the other in a pick up truck) found us in Mammoth Lakes - easy! A small town high in the eastern sierra its raison...

Jul 14, 2008 -
