Drove to Simi Valley. Unhitched the trailer and went to The Reagan Library. It sits up on a hill and overlooks some beautiful country. We had reservations at Morro Bay and Yosemite, but since we had visited both before we decided to head for home. We were going to go back to visit Pam's brother in Paradise near Chico.

Day # 51, 10-28-11 To paraphrase a children’s fable; Cross Country, Cross Country I go with my Rig. Home again, home again, Jiggity Jig. Cross Country, Cross Country I’ve finished my Blog, Home again, Home again Jiggity Jog! Here it is Friday, 10-28-11 and the Beast is parked in front of my humble abode in Simi Valley and I have 3 very large boxes of mail in my living room that was delivered by the US Postal Service. All good things come to an end, but we have already started planning the next trip. I just need fresh underwear. Turning then...

Sep 9, 2011 - Day #1

Day 1 of the Journey: The day started at 6:30 am, finished loading the food into the refrigerator and freezer. Took care of all the pre-trip preparations and got on the road @ 9:20. Stopped in Mojave to walk the dog and back on the road. Somewhere on HWY 395 North, we encountered a CHP car "escorting" 2 sheep up the highway. They could have been Lamb Chops (Linda). Stopped for lunch in a little hole in the wall town at 1:00, walked the dog again and had lunch. About 50 miles from Bishop we ran into a "squall" with heavy rain and wind. It...

Jun 13, 2010 - Ronald Reagan Library

Today was exactly one month since we left home and the day that we had been dreading since we began planning the trip, however, it went quite well. We had to drive through Los Angeles today - all the rv forums and information I read said to make the trip Sunday morning which should have the least amount of traffic. We left Oceanside, CA and drove up I5 to CA101 right through downtown LA with no problems aside from the fact that I had to peel Bill's "white knuckles" off the steering wheel. After setting up at the Canoga Park Elks north of...

Feb 22, 2010 - Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

Today we visited the Presidential Library of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States. The library and museum is situated in Simi Valley perched high on a mountain top above the valley. It therefore had stunning views of the surrounding area. The location was chosen mainly because Ronald Reagan had filmed a number of his western films in the area. The museum first took you through the early years of his life, growing up in Dixon, Illinois. He was a keen athlete during his college days and then had a successful is career in...

Feb 16, 2010 - Ronald Reagan Library

Yesterday we spent the greater part of the day at an RV repair center. The purpose was to repair leveling jacks. We had to have two valves replaced that caused hydraulic fluid to escape and after some hours our coach would start to lean to the left. For those of you unfamiliar with the RVing lifestyle, one of the things you want and need is a level coach when you are parked. And so, once you are parked in your campsite, you put down leveling jacks to raise the coach on all four corners to make it level and take weight off of the tires. Our...

Jan 17, 2010 - The First Storm Shows Up

This morning Mary baked a cake, she has become a real pro with cooking and baking using the convection oven. This afternoon we went to Harbor Freight for a rain suit, according to the weather forecast there are four storms backed up out in the the Pacific coming in that are expected to dump 10" to 20" of rain over the next week. The first storm showed up early this afternoon, it started to rain about 1PM. I finally managed to get the black water tank completely emptied flushed and cleaned.

Jan 16, 2010 - Visit With Yvette

We spent the day today with our good friend Yvette who moved down here at about the same time that we left Madea last June. She has a very nice apartment at a gated seniors only apartment complex in a very nice neighborhood for $800.00 a month which I think is a great deal for down here. She took us back to the Reagan Museum to see his burial memorial that we had missed when we were there the other day. For lunch she took us to Red's, a local restaurant that specializes in bar-b-qued tri tip and ribs, Mary had the tri tip and I had the ribs...
