Sep 22, 2010 - Little Lakes Valley

Our final hike of our summer-fall journey was a spectacular fall colors vista-Little Lakes Valley. Little Lakes Valley is located on the East Side of the Sierra Nevada Range, about 15 miles north of Bishop. The trip starts at the Mosquito Flats trail head, at the far end of Rock Creek Road. The area is part of the John Muir Wilderness. At 10255 feet, the Mosquito Flats trail head provides a high starting point, minimizing much of the elevation gain normally required with hiking in the Sierras. Jun 19, 2009 - Our last night on the road

Today we drove south on US 395 through Reno, NV, Bridgeport, CA, Lee Vining, Mammoth Lakes and ended up at our last Forestry Campground called French Camp. This was a very tight and steep campground. We walked the campground before pulling the trailer in. I wanted to make sure I had room. One of the campground workers told me, "Oh yeah, I pull my 38 footer in here all the time!" B.S.! This place was really narrow, and I have a few brush marks on the sides of the trailer to prove it. When we did get settled in, we had a really nice BBQ...
