Jul 29, 2013 - I want to be a weather man

I obviously picked the wrong occupation. Evidently as a meteorologist you can be VERY VERY WRONG 90% of the time and that’s acceptable. It can’t possibly be a requirement of the position to be accurate in any way shape or form. Sorry for the rant, but today’s weather forecast promised sunny skies and 70 degrees with waves from 1 to 2 feet. When we left for Mackinac this morning we had no idea that yesterday would actually be considered a good cruising day in comparison. It started out so smooth and pretty and we talked about how wonderful...

Sep 8, 2011 - Lighthouse Mania - Seven!!!!

Today’s sightseeing quest was taking us southwards, across the Mackinac Bridge into the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and do some lighthouse explorations along beautiful Lake Huron. We got underway shortly after 9:00 a.m., sunny skies and nice temps in the mid 60s to enhance our day! The first destination was to the Welcome Center to pick up some literature about the lighthouses along the Lake and only to find it was closed now on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to budget cut-backs! Darn! So, we then headed over to the check out the Old...

Aug 20, 2011 - Presque Isle

August 19, 2011 It was drizzling when we awoke. However, I wanted to go to the Farmer’s Market in Alpena so, I donned my raingear and left Bob sleeping in the RV. It stopped raining as I got to the market. The market is located adjacent to the town marina and though small – about 20 vendors- it was lovely. The fruits, vegetables and flowers were gleaming, they were so clean. There were all kinds of vegetables, including interesting looking cukes, zucchini/squash and beautiful, thin haricot verts (French green beans). The corn was...

Aug 25, 2008 - My first full day at my destination, MI

I arrived at my brothers house around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, August 24th. It felt like the last 40 miles were the longest.. It's beautiful here but the wind is a bit cool. It's suppose to heat up for the rest of the week. Bob has water on both sides of his property, by his house and then across the road where the RV is. I was sitting out by the water by the motor home as the sun was setting, so awesome. Frogs jumping, ducks swimming and quaking, crickets singing. As I came back across the road my sister-in-law Marcia, was fishing with a...

Aug 7, 2008 - GM Reunion

August 7th GM Reunion We woke up this morning to some cool temperatures. Chuck actually turned on the heat. The reunion was very nice, as it always is. This area is very pretty and the drive along M23 is awesome. Lake Huron is very pretty, but the temperatures keep me dry. The season here is quite short. It was 70° most of the day. At 12:00 it was 70 and at 5:00 it was 70, or maybe the thermometers were stuck. There were some people there that Chuck had not seen at the previous reunions, so he was happy about that. It was also Jack and...

Aug 11, 2007 - Tuesday August 7

Tuesday, August 7 (my birthday) We had a great night's sleep. No A/C, just the vents and we opened a window. Breakfast was scheduled for 8:00. Marge had pancakes & sausage for us. Delicious!! She also had a piece of cake with a candle for me. Shelby was the first to call me and Zackary was close behind her. I heard from everyone today and that means more than any material item. (Cathy & John must have been busy, Cathy always calls and sings Happy Birthday). Tina called and sang a beautiful Happy Birthday to me, along with the girls, I can't...
