Jul 24, 2015 - Sleeping Bear Dunes

July (23)24 On to Whispering Pines Campground in Marcelona, MI. This is a mail stop for us (thanks, Eileen). Well-cared-for campground, FHU, large sites, FREE Wi-Fi, and heated pool, plus acres of beautiful pines! The folks who own and operate this campground are good-natured and helpful — what more could you ask? (24) A day of exploring! Drove over to the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The park ranger accepted my National Parks Senior Pass (62+) in lieu of the entrance fee, and gave us a rearview mirror hanging “pocket” so...

Jul 22, 2015 - Saugatuck again...

July 22 “Return to Saugatuck!” Partly, we went back to look for Ron Wilkens, a well known man about town and a friend of our friend Larry Mims. Larry is now in Okinawa doing some repairs on his seagoing sailing ketch, but he took the time to email us with things we might like to do and see in his hometown. The fest took place in the city park which looked to be about...

Retirement Rocks!!

Apr 9, 2010 - Day 121-130

We left Cedar Key on Sat. April 3rd at noon and it sure was a sad day saying goodbye to all the great people we met. We stopped in Albany GA at the Walmart for the night. Cruised on the next day through Atlanta and then up the Smokey Mountains to the town of Cherokee where the Harrah's Casino is and parked next to the Pigeon River and stayed there for two nights. Tuesday we had to take a detour because of a rock slide on I-40 so that took awhile to get back to I-75. Stopped south of Lexington KY for the night. Wednesday we are on the last...

Jul 3, 2008 - Saugatuck

I wanted to go to Saugatuck since my friend Karen loves it and her sister Sheila calls it home. It was a sweet town on the water. I just stopped for lunch so I only snapped a few photos. If you are in the area, I would recommend a stop.
