Norfolk, NE Although the quarantine is still around, we can leave the state. Jim searched for a state with the fewest coronvirus cases and found South Dakota where we figured we could easily avoid other people while hiking in the hills. On our way to South Dakota, however, we had a few things to do. Every year we participate in the Great Parks Pursuit where we travel to designated state and city parks to collect rubbings. Monday we left the Omaha area. First stop was the tire store to get one replaced. Then it was back on the road. We chose to travel on the smaller roads instead of the interstate to see the farmland and sights in Nebraska. We got as far as Norfolk, NE and stopped for the night in the only RV park in Norfolk. Turned out to be a city park. Quite nice though the only hook-up was electrical. One step away from boondocking! We left early Tuesday morning and, as it turns out, escaped ahead of a major storm. Sep 20, 2006 - Who in their right mind goes to Nebraska for a vacation??!!
Our trip started on a "sour" note as Marilyn awoke in the middle of the night with an acute bout of dizziness which lead to major nausea and other symptoms. Fortunately, by morning the symptoms except the dizziness had subsided. We left at 7am driving straight into the early morning sun. As we headed northeast out of Denver on I-76 we were struck by the sense of fall, yet were impressed by how green the prairie seemed for this late in the year.
