Celebrating the 240th anniversary of this great country we call the United States of America in Houghton, NY. Last year we were boiling, sweating, and swatting mosquitoes in southernmost Louisiana on the Gulf of Mexico. This year we are enjoying the much cooler weather in western NY state Genesee region. We've been mostly relaxing at the KOA for the holiday weekend, and doing some of the chores you have to do no matter where you are (grocery shopping, laundry, etc.), but yesterday I got up early for some photography along nearby Wiscoy...

Jul 1, 2016 - Short Drive

We made a short drive south today to Houghton, NY to spend the Independence Day weekend at the Houghton/Letchworth KOA. When I made reservation for the State Park, the weekend wasn't open so we had to move on today. Before leaving, we made another trip to the Glen Iris Inn for dessert last night. When we ate dinner there on Tuesday we were too full to sample the dessert menu, but told the waitress we would be back before we left.
