Sep 25, 2018 - Accurate forecast of heavy rain

As predicted, we got up to heavy rain, so another relaxing morning. We went to our Peekskill coffee shop for crepes and coffee and back home to dry out. I'm sure nobody needs to see photos of rain, so my last two are of Adriana's basement full of jewels. They are all for sale so if you see a piece you fancy, let me know. Collecting is Adriana's passion and many a Sunday she spends at flea markets so, besides the jewellery, which she also fixes if stones and the like are missing, she also likes to buy furniture, paintings, ornaments...

Sep 24, 2018 - Whitney gallery of American art and Grand Central Station

In rather autumnal weather I went to the Whitney gallery of American art which is right next door to the end of the Highline on 14th. It's a modern building with two terraces on different floors from where you can get views towards the Hudson and the opposite bank, Manhattan skyscrapers and people on the Highline. Sep 24, 2018 - Bear mountain

After a leisurely morning we went up the river to the opposite bank and had lunch at the Bear Mountain Inn. Bear Mountain park was created by land given by two philanthropists for the people of New York to enjoy. In years gone by they would arrive by steamer and be taken by the specially built road to the top. There, there is a tower you can climb for a view of 360 degrees with history and old photographs printed on to ceramic tiles. On a clear day, not today, you can see down to New York. After strolling round and taking photos, we went to...

Sep 22, 2018 - Cortlandt Manor home to Adriana and Mel

We had a busy day today doing relaxing things. We started off in Peekskill coffee shop which is rather rustic, very friendly and serves good cappuccino. Being Saturday the place was very busy and lively. Having had coffee and as it was around lunch time which I often miss, Adriana and Mel thought of going to Subway for a sandwich. Seeing the menu in the coffee shop included fresh sandwiches and crepes, we decided to stay on and have lunch there, which was excellent. Then we went to the bank to change my Canadian dollars to US ones, I'm...
