Sept 18, 2013 – Bear Lake This was a quickie two night stop at a state campground. Just like on Cape Cod once you pass labor day everything closes. Bummer and I really wanted to meander around gift shops. Bear lake for whatever reason has this amazing turquoise colored water (remember this is the northeast corner of Utah). My daughter, Jennifer, arrived at the Salt Lake City airport on the 1st of July. We took many rides out in the Cache Valley and to some of the small cities like Avon for a picnic beside a stream. The fireworks on July 3rd were spectacular. They were very late getting started since it doesn't get dark here until 10pm but the fireworks were worth the wait. Utah has been a real surprise to us. Jenny arrived at Salt Lake City on July 1st from San Jose, CA. I picked her up and we headed for Logan. Once we got her settled in at the RV we drove into town to look at the Utah State campus, downtown and the LDS Temple and the Tabernacle. Logan is a beautiful town and the people are very helpful. June 28, 2009 Drive to Bear Lake Utah The Funks picked us up at our RV and drove us east on Highway 89 for 45 miles to Bear Lake. Bear Lake is a natural freshwater lake on the Utah-Idaho border. May 16, 2008 - Last One Bear Lake

This will be our wrap up from Bear Lake State Park. We ended up staying for ten days free. We would have been happy to pay for our stay in paradise, but the rangers told us we could stay for free. We love this beautiful area, we had a blast. We both agree we have never seen a more beautiful lake. We are all packed up and ready to roll tomorrow. We will be spending the next ten days in Yellowstone National Park. I am adding a few pictures that didn’t make it on any of the updates, I hope you enjoy.

May 15, 2008 - Bear Lake Wildlife Refuge

We had another great day of exploring. We drove through part of the massive Bear Lake Wildlife Refuge. We spotted a ton of birds, but nothing new for my birding list. We were surprised to see quite a few white pelicans in the area, I never would have expected to see them here. Bear Lake Refuge is located in southeast Idaho, about ten miles south of Montpelier. May 13, 2008 - Relaxing & History

We had a relaxing day at home today. We walked Ollie down to the lake and watched him play. We sat outside and watched the birds, we are getting a lot of action at the feeders. Several magpies have found the dishes of seed on the ground and have been devouring them. I have been doing some reading about this beautiful, most interesting area and decided to share. I have to first mention that today is my babies birthday. Happy Birthday to our awesome son, we can’t believe you are 42 today. We spent the day geocaching and wish you were here with us. This area is loaded with geocaches hidden all around the gorgeous lake. We almost have the place to ourselves. Ollie has been having a ball running without a leash. May 9, 2008 - Bear Lake State Park, Idaho

We are in Bear Lake State Park in Idaho. There are only two of us camping in the whole State Park. We hit the jackpot with this place. It was not officially open because of the frozen water from the cold weather so they offered us a choice of any campsite for FREE. We have a holding tank full of water and will use it and just go for more when we need it and come back. We have 30 amp electric so we are set. This place is fabulous.
