Sep 26, 2020 - We made it home safely!

Up and underway at 0900 leaving Kennewick. The weather is cool outside, so long pants are necessary. The wind is blowing a bit. But God is good and answered all your prayers. The wind was not as bad as yesterday and aside from traffic and some rain showers we did fine. We finally got home about 1600 and got parked and the minimum stuff unloaded. I ran down to Belfair and got us some pizza for dinner. No more driving for Spike for awhile and no more early wake up calls. Thank you for all your prayers for us. We felt them and so appreciate them!

May 17, 2019 - Port Angeles to Bremerton

Spent the night at Uptown Motel a older (LOL) motel on the edge of the Olympic National Park, nice and clean but from the past only 16 rooms and the fixtures in the bathroom were pink, LOL. Was part of the Quality Inn system which was next door so had a nice bowl of soup at 4:00 PM, and a nice breakfast this morning. Loaded up and checked out and on the road to Hurricane Ridge inside the park with a stop to fill up with gas, on the way to the hill it was very foggy at time just being able to see the road, and at the top was quite cold a 37...

May 7, 2016 - Meetings and sightseeing

Got up and ready this morning and met some of the others at breakfast. The ladies changed plans and spent the day wandering around Bremerton, taking photos and generally acting foolish! The men had their meeting, with some serious considerations as to the future of the organization, but generally a good meeting with plenty participation. Sadly had to say farewell to one of our number who is retiring. Christine was resting in the room after our meeting. They had walked quite a distance. We met up for dinner. The place had just changed their...

May 6, 2016 - Meeting up in Bremerton

We had a quiet morning and a leisurely breakfast then got our things together to take with us to the Bremerton Hotel. After lunch we set off up the highway which started off well, then we ran into heavy traffic and the GPS complicated things by taking us up an off ramp, across the busy cross street and up the opposite on ramp back onto the freeway we could have remained on, even though it was moving slowly. We followed the GPS along a road which led us to the ferry terminal, which we knew was close to the hotel, but we did not want to go on...

Oct 3, 2013 - Educator of the Year

We had a presentation to make at 5 PM at the Bremerton School Board meeting, honoring one of the high school counselors. Past Department Commander Bud Sperry, chairman of the Education Committee, and Bob Theal, Americanism Chairman for the 3rd District were in attendance as well. The School Board was surprised and pleased at the honor. Of course, it makes for a good face for the Legion. Back to Lacey for the night, then head out to Vancouver (WA) tomorrow.

Aug 17, 2013 - Bremerton Sailor Port

Today eight of us decided to take a wonderful boat ride over to Bremerton which is home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Bremerton Annex of Naval Base Kitsap. Bremerton is connected to downtown Seattle by a 55-minute ferry route, which carries both vehicles and walk-on passengers along a 17 mile sailing to and from Seattle. While there we walked the little town and had a great seafood lunch. We are loving the fresh seafood while on the coast. Arrived back at camp around 8pm.

Jul 25, 2013 - Oysters and Bremerton, WA - Day 55

July 25, 2013..A day of varied experiences. We are still circling the Olympic Peninsula on US Hwy. 101. We drove through Shelton and later saw a casino. Native Americans run the casinos in Washington. At Hoodsport, we turned left onto WA Hwy. 119N to the end of the road along Lake Cushman. What a beautiful lake. Back to Hwy. 101N along the Hood Canal. We spotted an oyster farm...had to check it out. We stopped at the farm store where a young lady was grilling oysters. What? Of course John had to learn about that. He ordered a dozen BBQ'd...

Jun 30, 2012 - Visiting Seattle

We had a wonderful sunny day for our one-day visit to Seattle. Oh, it was so good to see the sun! We took the bus to the Bremerton ferry for the one hour ride to Seattle. There is no shortage of diversity, of people or food, here in Seattle and it is all crammed into several blocks surrounding the 104 year old Pike’s Place Market. The market is huge and home to hundreds of vendors. It is famous for its fish markets, produce vendors and hundreds of other businesses selling all kinds of products. Walk along the streets surrounding the market...

Aug 10, 2007 - Bremerton East-West 50th High School Reunion 2007

Sally's High School Class 0f '57 had their 50th Reunion at the Bremerton Golf & Country club 10-12 August. The East-West (very inovative name for the combination of East and West High schools in Bremerton, WA.) reunion could best be described as "noisy". I felt sorry for those wearing hearing aids! The reunion committee did a superb job of organizing and decorating, and managed to get 120 of the graduates to return for the celebration. That was a pretty high percentage considering that 51 of the class were no longer alive. The busy weekend...

Jul 5, 2006 - Home again, home again

We've been home for a few weeks now, putting our house back together and settling in. Since we spent over three weeks in Australia and another week in LA, we didn't have much culture shock in coming home. Mostly just the excitement of coming HOME, to our city and our friends and our house and our kitties. Although both of us had some jitters, like nervous butterflies before a performance, when we landed at SeaTac. We've had warm bear hugs from friends and neighbors and many invitations to dinner, coffee, parties, etc. We're spending our...

Mar 20, 2006 - Seattle lay-over

We boarded a plan this morning for Seattle and overnighted here before heading on to Boston. Sqeeki, the dog, had a nerve-wracking trip, but is surviving. A meal of 7-11 sandwiches fills our stomachs and sends us off to bed dreaming of a nice flight tomorrow.
