Back in the U.S.A Wenatchee, Washington After looking at the Vernon Murals we set out to find the O'Keefe Ranch. This is on the Canadian National Historic Record and was constructed around 1862. They brought in cattle and became the first working cattle ranch in the area. The ranch ended up covering over 20,000 acres. It served as a working cattle ranch until1967 when it was opened to the public as a National Historic Site. Today (July 31, 2006) was our last day in Canada. May 8, 2006 - Pateros, WA

I didn't get far today - 77 miles. Got my oil changed, prescriptions filled at Wal-Mart and a hair cut in Wenatchee. I was planning on going farther (further?) but happened upon the town of Pateros where I have free wi-fi in the comfort of my motorhome. I have electricity so I'll be able to watch the Suns game tonight without running the generator and missing the second half because it was past "quiet time." Aug 29, 2005 - Chelan

We left the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho and coasted down to the flatness that is Spokane. On the radio we heard non stop coverage of Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast and this coverage suddenly became much more vivid as the winds picked up around us. The sky turned an eerie blue and after a few more miles the realization dawned that we were driving through arid, tilled soil that had been picked up by the winds and was rapidly flying north.
