As we neared Laos the land was much more rugged. We crossed the border at the top of a mt. range and had beautiful views as we made our way down the other side. We spent Friday in the Laos capital of Vientienne. We took a Laos version of a tuk tuk taxi and visited the market and numerous temple and pagodas. Then we each had a very good massage for $3.50 US each.

Feb 23, 2006 - Day 11 - Journey to Lak Sao (Laos/Vietnam border)

Up early for our free breakfast (wooo) before getting on our minibus bound for Lak Soa on the Laos/Vietnam border. Saw a lot more of Vientiane on the way out. It appears that we just didn't go in the right direction yesterday! Well it was quite far on foot so that's probably why. I think other people hired bikes and took tuk tuks etc. Oops! We stopped a few times today. We stopped at a viewpoint of the Annamite Moutains, which were quite nice.
